Change Email Client IMAP/SMTP from Plain to SSL Print

To change / update your email client to use SSL, refer to the guidelines below for your device:

iPhone (iOS)

Android

Outlook / Mail Client

 

Important Notes:

  • Port Numbers: Ensure you use the correct port numbers for SSL:

    • IMAP: 993

    • POP3: 995

    • SMTP: 465

  • Authentication: Make sure your username and password are correct.

  • Server Names

    • Incoming Mail Server Hostname (IMAP): imap.whitebean.io
    • Incoming Mail Server Hostname (POP3): pop.whitebean.io
    • Outgoing Mail Server Hostname: smtp.whitebean.io

iPhone (iOS)

  1. Open Settings:

    • Go to the Settings app on your iPhone.

  2. Navigate to Mail:

    • Scroll down and tap Mail.

  3. Select Accounts:

    • Tap Accounts.

  4. Choose Your Email Account:

    • Select the email account you want to update.

  5. Edit Server Settings:

    • Tap on the email address at the top to access account settings.

    • Scroll down to Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server.

  6. Update to SSL:

    • Under Incoming Mail Server, tap Advanced.

      • Ensure Use SSL is turned on.

      • Change the Server Port to 993 (for IMAP) or 995 (for POP3).

      • Set the Incoming Mail Server Hostname to imap.whitebean.io (IMAP) pop.whitebean.io (POP3)
    • Under Outgoing Mail Server, tap SMTP and select the primary server.

      • Ensure Use SSL is turned on.

      • Change the Server Port to 465.

      • Set the Outgoing Mail Server Hostname to smtp.whitebean.io
  7. Save Changes:

    • Tap Done or Save to apply the changes.

 


Android

  1. Open Email App:

    • Open the default email app or the app you use for your email account.

  2. Go to Account Settings:

    • Tap the Menu (three lines or dots) and select Settings.

  3. Select Your Email Account:

    • Tap on the email account you want to update.

  4. Edit Server Settings:

    • Look for Incoming Server Settings and Outgoing Server Settings.

  5. Update to SSL:

    • Under Incoming Server Settings:

      • Change the Security Type to SSL/TLS.

      • Update the Port to 993 (for IMAP) or 995 (for POP3).

      • Set the Incoming Mail Server Hostname to imap.whitebean.io (IMAP) pop.whitebean.io (POP3)
    • Under Outgoing Server Settings:

      • Change the Security Type to SSL/TLS.

      • Update the Port to 465.

      • Set the Outgoing Mail Server Hostname to smtp.whitebean.io
  6. Save Changes:

    • Tap Next or Save to apply the changes.

 


Outlook (Desktop App)

  1. Open Outlook:

    • Launch the Outlook application on your computer.

  2. Go to Account Settings:

    • Click on File in the top-left corner.

    • Select Account Settings > Account Settings.

  3. Select Your Email Account:

    • Choose the email account you want to update and click Change.

  4. Edit Server Settings:

    • In the Change Account window, click More Settings.

  5. Update to SSL:

    • Go to the Advanced tab.

      • Under Incoming Server (IMAP/POP3):

        • Change the Use the following type of encrypted connection to SSL.

        • Update the Port to 993 (for IMAP) or 995 (for POP3).

        • Set the Incoming Mail Server Hostname to imap.whitebean.io (IMAP) pop.whitebean.io (POP3)
      • Under Outgoing Server (SMTP):

        • Change the Use the following type of encrypted connection to SSL.

        • Update the Port to 465.

        • Set the Outgoing Mail Server Hostname to smtp.whitebean.io
  6. Save Changes:

    • Click OK and then Next to test the settings.

    • Once confirmed, click Finish.
